Project Name: Tobacco-Free Quad Cities (TFQC)

Relationship to QCHI: QCHI Affiliate Project

Project Description: The TFQC addresses all aspects of tobacco including education, cessation, and availability in the community.

Target Audience: Individuals residing in Rock Island and Scott County

Start Date/Current Status: Formerly known as the Quad City Coalition on Health, this group became the TFQC in 2000. The TFQC is currently active in the community addressing various tobacco concerns. Project Coordinators are on staff at Rock Island and Scott County Health Departments.

Project Goals and Objectives: Change the culture of the community regarding tobacco use and exposure through:

  1. Preventing the start of the use of tobacco
  2. Promoting cessation of tobacco usage
  3. Limiting the exposure to secondhand smoke
  4. Decreasing the availability of tobacco products
  5. Influencing tobacco related legislation
