
Project Name: Quad-Cities Coalition on Adolescent Sexuality and Pregnancy (QCCASP)
Relationship to QCHI: QCHI Affiliate Project
Project Description: QCCASP is a coalition of diverse community groups focused on reducing the teenage pregnancy rate in the Quad Cities. Projects include a media campaign, an informational website, parent education forums, and information and referral telephone lines for teens.
Target Audience: Teenagers ages 12-17 and their parents
Start Date/Current Status: The coalition formed under this name in 1999 but predecessor groups extend back to 1980. The Coalition last met June 2003.
Project Goals and Objectives:
- Reduce the teen pregnancy rate in the Quad Cities by 5% over 5 years
- Provide effective, timely assistance to pregnant teens
- Provide meaningful, sustained assistance to teen parents
Project Performance/ Accomplishments:

Organized an Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Conference for those concerned about the effects of adolescent pregnancy in October 2002

Worth the Wait media campaign (Dec. 2000-Jan. 2002) reached 85% of teenagers from 12-17 years of age an average of 5.6 times during its first 10 months

Began development of website for local teens. Created 50,000 wallet cards, 250 posters, and 10,000 bookmarkers highlighting the Information and Referral Lines for distribution at service agencies and local schools

Organized 8 parent education sessions addressing a wide array of issues related to teen sexuality and equipping parents to discuss these issues with teens
