
Relationship to QCHI: QCHI Project
Project Description: To help Quad Citians live healthy from the inside out.
Target Audience: All residents of the Quad Cities.
Start Date/Current Status: The project team assembled in June 2008 and has created a collaborative plan for action.Team Workgroups will implement the plan for the benefit of all the residents of the Quad Cities.
Project Goals and Objectives:
- Increase the community's understanding of mental health mental illness and thus reduce the stigma associated with mental health care
- Preserve and increase access to care for persons with mental illness
- Promote mental health as integral to our overall health and well-being
Project Performance/ Accomplishments:
Through joint planning exercises the group has selected four issues for development: Public Awareness & Community Education, Service Trailblazers, Youth, and Medical Integration.
The team sponsored the inaugural symposium "Bridging Medical Practice with Behavioral Health" on May 13, 2009, a Service Trailblazing session "Navigating Local Behavioral Health Resources for the Prenatal and Early Childhood Periods" on June 17, 2009, and a second Service Trailblazing Session, "Navigating Local Behavioral Health Resources with an Understanding of the Adolescent Mind" on November 10, 2009.
